Respected Mr.Alok Betab

Thanks for the mail.

There is no any leave named as 'leave without pay' in the rule books.Generally this word is used for 'Extra ordinary leave(EOL)'. No delay or withholding of increments can be imposed on an employee on the basis of EOL. First thing is to note here that if an employee is on leave (may be on EOL also) then he cant' be treated as ABSENT from his/her duty. The leave without pay is also a kind of leave provided he fulfills the conditions of that particular type of leave like this one--

a) on medical grounds

b)otherwise than on medical grounds due to the inability of the Government servant to join duty on account of civil commotion.

c)for prosecuting higher technical and scientific studies.

If any of above condtions are applied then he/she is eligible for the next increment on 1st July 2006.

(please see the Swamy Books ,page 51,increments)
